The Toronto Centre for the Arts has become the first theatrical facility in Toronto to release a new smartphone application, allowing patrons to peruse show times and descriptions, event listings, and to purchase tickets directly from their phone. The TCA's free app can be found on iTunes and App Stores for iPhone, iTouch, Blackberry and Android devices.
'We are pioneering the theatre-related app in Toronto', says Pim Schotanus, General
Manager of the TCA, 'the only theatre that has developed one, for the convenience of our client organizations and their audiences. The community can connect with us much easier this way, and keep up to date with what is happening at the Centre right in the palm of their hand.
'Toronto is a fast-paced 21st Century city and the Toronto Centre for the Arts serves the people of the Toronto the way they want to be served.
'It's about connecting people to their Centre. We have so many diverse companies
producing and performing here that there is something for everyone. This way they find the show that's right for them, right away and can see, in one place, everything this Centre and this City has to offer.'
The TCA app is easily navigated, and provides a calendar listing all productions as well as synopses and photos for all events. The Toronto Centre for the Arts' fully dynamic and client-controlled app was designed by Toronto's Mooshin Studios, a team of independent designers and developers who have also recently revamped the TCA's website.
